My goal is to provide the best possible treatment for each patient.
To perform the treatment of back problems as efficiently as possible, if possible with the latest endoscopic techniques and with an eye for an optimal functional and aesthetic result. This is done in consultation with the patient, after providing honest and correct information. I want to treat as many back disorders as possible with "motion preservation", but this without placing (metal) implants. In essence, this means first and foremost to treat the patient without surgery if possible. When surgery is needed, preferably a procedure that causes the least possible surgical trauma and that can treat the back problem very selectively: via endoscopy. In my practice, with twenty years of experience, this was possible through a rare combination of: Extensive experience in spina bifida surgery with a very strong interest in minimally invasive surgery. This was reflected in ten years of experience with the METRx® system (a precursor of endoscopy where surgery is performed through 2cm thick surgical tubes). and 20 years of arthroscopic (actually the endoscopy of a joint) experience in shoulder surgery. In the shoulder, all conditions - except fractures and prostheses - are treated arthroscopically. It was a logical step to merge both experiences and apply them for the treatment of back problems: back endoscopy. This foreknowledge and dexterity were the basis for learning the latest endoscopic techniques developed in the USA and Germany. Since 2014 back endoscopy is applied in my existing practice. Since then, fewer operations with large incisions and mergers (fixed vertebrae) are performed....
